Marketplace MVP

Overview

A serial entrepreneur and recurring client retained me to take over the development of an AI-powered talent marketplace targeting the highly specialized pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Located at PharmasMarket.com, the application was designed to allow enterprises to post targeted clinical projects and enable expert candidates to build profiles that are mathematically matched to active listings via automated algorithms. When I inherited the codebase, the client only possessed static, incomplete web layout shells, leaving the critical user onboarding funnels, resume parsing architectures, automated interview workflows, and core AI matching engines completely unbuilt. Operating within a strict timeline and budget, my task was to build out the entire distributed ecosystem to exact Figma specifications, establish an internal administrative control center, integrate a multi-party escrow financial engine, and deploy the full-stack infrastructure to a production cloud environment.

Architectural Strategy

The architectural strategy centered on creating a highly decoupled, distributed cloud platform optimized for secure transaction processing and real-time data flow. I architected the codebase as a single monorepo managed by Bun for rapid package resolution and dependency isolation. To guarantee sub-millisecond frontend delivery, both the primary marketplace and the internal admin applications were built using React, Vite, and React-Router version seven, then deployed directly to AWS Lambda at Edge functions backed by Amazon CloudFront. The core backend API layer was containerized via Docker and deployed to a highly scalable AWS Fargate service. To handle resource-intensive asynchronous pipelines without sacrificing API availability, I designed a decoupled event-driven architecture using Amazon EventBridge to trigger scheduled background tasks, which were channeled through Amazon SQS queues and processed by dedicated Fargate worker instances.

Implementation Details

The technical execution began with implementing Zod for strict schema validation across the monorepo, using Mongoose and MongoDB to handle multi-tenant data storage alongside Redis for low-latency session caching. I engineered the incomplete candidate onboarding funnel from scratch, integrating ElevenLabs and Grok to drive the real-time AI voice interview modules and text evaluation engines. To build out the platform’s core marketplace economy, I integrated Stripe Connect to architect a robust financial pipeline that handles secure escrow payments from enterprise clients and automated payout flows to talent upon project completion. For the internal operations team, I constructed a comprehensive standalone administration panel, granting them the ability to view escrow ledger states, manually re-trigger stalled data processing pipelines, adjust matching parameters, and manage user records safely. I wrote automated test suites using Vite-testing, configured consistent multi-environment deployments using Pulumi infrastructure as code, and automated the final release pipelines via Git and GitHub Actions.

Outcome & Metrics

The comprehensive intervention successfully stabilized the distributed system and launched the platform on budget and on schedule, enabling PharmasMarket.com to move directly into live production operations. By replacing the incomplete static frontends with a containerized Fargate and edge-computed architecture, the marketplace successfully automated candidate profile evaluation, held stable real-time voice screening sessions, and delivered instantaneous matching results. The newly deployed distributed cloud infrastructure and Stripe integration completely eliminated frontend origin load and secured all payment routing, ensuring the marketplace can scale effortlessly to handle millions of dollars in escrow volume and thousands of concurrent audio interviews simultaneously without any degradation to active dashboard users.
